About Basswood Shutters
This is the most common of shutter materials. Basswood shutters are made from trees that come from the tilia family. These trees are known for their sturdy trunks. Basswood also has an attractive, fine texture. It means that the finished shutters have a uniform, smooth finish which adds to the beauty of the shutter. The timber is also less likely to bleed or produce excess resin that can affect the finish of the timber (painting, staining etc).
Advantages include lightness, stability (the resistance to warping) and flexibility of design. They can be painted or stained, smooth or sandblasted in almost any design required.
